This big Mystery by Edgar Allan Poe was solved in a mysterious and interested way. Detective Legrand was able to find out where the hidden treasure was located do to the drawing.
At first he did everything that he was able to do to figure it out but he couldn't. but he still didn't give up so he decide to put the vellum to the fire and then washing it with warm water and then he put it in a pan and left it on top of lighted charcoal. After this Legrand noticed spots everywhere in which looked like figures lined up, that looked like this:.

But after studying the piece of cryptograph he was able to figure out what it said, and it said the following:.
" " A good glass in the bishop's hostel in the devil's seat forty-one degrees and thirteen minutes northeast and by north main branch seventh limb east side shoot from the left eye of the death's head a bee-line from the tree through the shot fifty feet out." ".
Then legrand went out to try to figure out where the "bishop's hostel" was located and some aged negroe woman informed him of a Bessop's Castle and told him that it wasn't any castle but instead it was a rock. And then he paid her to take him there and so she did.
Once Legrand got there he was wondering around trying to look for any clues when he realized that in the riddle a telescope was mentioned and that the phrases "forty-one degrees and thirteen minutes," and "northeast and by north," were directions for the telescope. After this legrand went home and got a telescope and came back to the rock and wonder around with the telescope and with it he discovered a human skull hanged on the tree. .
That is how he concluded that he had to throw the gold bug through the left eye of the skeleton in which he made Jupiter clime up the tree and do. But at first they mistakenly put it through the right, but once the gold bug was thrown through the left eye they were able to find the hidden treasures that belonged to pirates.
