Application Esay

There are several ways that I often used. One is to decrease the number of pictures per second so that speedy and lively scene can be made. I learned this method when I joined a shooting in Mongolia. In this shooting, we shot horses many times, and by that method, horses ran more vividly. Another way of editing is suggestive montage. For example, when I shot a scene of murder, I did not show the entire process of murder. First, I shot a face of man who left the room, and I shot the room that was a terrible mess next. Then I shot the hand of a fainted man and flowing blood. These succession of scenes is more dramatic. .
             Fourth factor is the outline of story. There is no right way of writing script; however, good scripts have some similarities, and I often follow them. In my opinion, good script has six parts; setup, first act, turning point, second act, second turning point, and big finish. The setup is an introduction of story, and it is taken over by development of first act. In the first act, backgrounds of main characters are described to draw audiences into the story. Turning point is the most important part in a story. In this part, new developments, the appearance of conflict, or change in situations would be described. Second act and second turning point are the same as the first one. In my film, the second turning point is usually the climax scene. .
             The last factor is the combination of sound and picture. For example, when I shot Yakuza; a Japanese gangster movie, I used the music of orchestra; fuga of Jphann Sebastian Bach in scenes of gun fighting in a church. These music and scene just matched. This is not logic, but emotion. .
             These factors are just my way of expression, and I have many ideas as a filmmaker. Now, I have the most interest in social issue films because I want to express my ideas about some major issues. Magnification of the gap between rich and poor, nuclear weapon, money politics, racial discrimination, religious dispute, and environmental destruction are some of the major social issues we are facing.
