The boys listened and lit a fire with Piggy's eyeglasses. Piggy's eyeglasses is another important object withing the society of the island because it demonstrate the intelligence, how they used science and order on the island. It later gives the boys ability to communicate with the outside world.
One day a ship passes by, and Ralph and Piggy notice that the signal fire has burned out. It was the hunters responsibility to maintain the fire up. All the hunters were trying to hunt some food. But there is a larger problem than keeping the fire up and the difficulty of hunting, the boys were starting to become afraid. The little boys were having nightmares and boys were starting to believe that there is a some sort of beast on the island. Fear brings them a lot of problems to the island. Ralph and the other boys were trying to convince them that there is no beast. All the boys are afraid of the beast, but then Simon realizes that they are afraid because the beast exists within each of the boys including himself .The imaginary beast stands for the instinct of savagery that is within human beings. Simon comes face to face with the Lord of the Flies , which is a sow's head that Jack put it on a stake in the forest as an offering to the beast. The Lord of the Flies seems to be speaking to Simon, telling him that evil and cruelty lies withing every human and that they are having fun with him. The boys organize a hunting journey to search for the beast. At top of the mountain they see the parachute and they are afraid of continuing the expedition. Jack says Ralph is a coward and that he should be removed from office as a chief, but the others boys refuse to vote him out of power. .
After Jack took away the rules and started his own rules and tribe, they lived in chaos. He wants power and the awful desire of hunting and killing animals led them in killing two human beings. The boys, including Ralph and Piggy joined Jack's tribe because he would give them what they really want, meat.
