My Writing and Literature Story

I took delight in every part of the process up to stapling the pages together and handing it in for a grade.
A lot of my time was spent in the library. I always had at least two books checked out. Since I switched schools frequently, I would often take a couple books as souvenirs. Eventually so many accumulated that they warranted their own shelf. I read constantly over the summer, Books were my escape and I could polish off a decent sized novel in one day. Staying indoors has always been more comfortable to me than playing around outdoors. So, while all the other kids were playing out in the park, I would be cradled up in my room reading. This led to my parents giving me the unfortunate, yet hilarious nickname of "The Hermit.".
Moving into middle school, I had become slightly less fanatic about reading. On the first day of sixth grade, I was nervous but eager to see what was in store. I continued to meander throughout the day, surveying my surroundings and new teachers. My English teacher, Mr. W, was the one that caught my attention. From day one I knew it would be my favorite class. He had lots of passion and made the subject seem so spectacular. Even though I only had him for one school year, he would end up being one of the most influential people I've come to know during my school career. This time in my life is very important to me because it's when I was introduced to poetry, which is one of my favorite forms of literature. After learning about all the different forms of poetry, I would practice writing a poem then showing it to Mr. W for constructive criticism. I was constantly thinking of new ideas for poetry. I spent many hours perfecting my word choice and rhyme scheme, all in a bid to get compliments from the teacher. This process repeated many times over the year and it helped expand my knowledge and grow more confident in my writing. .
Toward the end of middle school, my love for poetry waned.
