             Advocacy for the Profession.
             Advocacy for the profession requires educating individuals to better understanding and appreciation of the importance of professionals in early childhood. Included in advocacy is working for "the development, implementation, and funding policies that ensure that the early care and education workforces is recognized and compensated for their valuable contribution to society's well-being" (Fowler, Hulett, & Kieff, 2009, p. 416). An important aspect of advocating for the profession begins by advocating for one's self. While advocating for one's self requires analysis of the strengths and weaknesses must occur in order to make the changes in the lives of children and the families of the children. .
             Program Based Advocacy.
             This type of advocacy refers to working within the programs of early childhood, such as daycare, Head Start, parks and recreation, in order to establish an environment that the will promote the quality services and educations for children and families within a community. Advocacy will occur as an attempt is made to enhance the well-being of the children. "Informed program-based advocacy implies that professional work within current knowledge of child development, critical theory, and cultural relevance to promote family-friendly policies and evidence-based practice through their communities" (Fowler, Hulett, & Kieff, 2009, p. 418). .
             Private Sector Advocacy.
             Private sector advocacy involves "working with privately owned companies and corporations to develop and implement product and policies that support the well-being of infants, children, and families" (Fowler, Hulett, & Kieff, 2009, p. 420). This may involve participation in a campaign which focuses on encouraging corporations to develop products that are child and family friendly and may also work to prohibit the distribution of products, distribute media, and provide education concerning the harmful effect of certain policies within a company or industry.
