Globalization

Along with this use of machinery come high levels of pollution. For example, smoke that comes from machinery often results in air pollution. These high levels of decay result in poor health conditions because the air is not fit to breathe. This air pollution also causes worldwide problems: "accelerated dehydration of the earth's protective ozone layer demonstrates that air pollution can also produce global effects with serious implications and predictions of global climate change and sea-level rise through the green-house effect brining into focus the most threatening aspects of the cumulative effects of air pollution." (globalization 2001). As countries continue in the fight to gain economic stability through industrialization, the chemicals they use are sometimes not disposed of properly, which in turn leads to serious environmental problems: "Many chemicals are released into the environment in unknown quantities with unknown effects." (globalization 2001). For example, the disposal of chemical wastes used in the development process enter the water systems and is not only taken in by the people, but by many animals and is then spread around the environment, causing it to mix in with the rest of the niche, resulting in major environmental chaos. The process of development uses the aid of technology, which in turn causes large amounts of pollution to be produced, resulting in serious environmental concerns. .
The degradation of land has drastically increased because of industrialization. Many corporations all over the world have caused a lot of land to be taken in order for them to generate their business. They have caused many forests to be cut down in order to use both the land space and the lumber. Deforestation causes numerous problems for the environment: "it leads to irreversible loss of productive land, soil erosion, more flooding and landslips, increased sedimentation of waterways, changes in rainfall patterns, loss of carbon dioxide "sinks" plus additions of this greenhouse gas when woodlands are burned, destruction of tribal peoples and catastrophic blow to biodiversity.
