Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

On the first tape, Hannah tells her listeners that she holds them responsible in some way for her death, and that the tapes will explain why. This is when Clay Jensen realized that these tapes contain each of the thirteen reasons why Hannah Baker decided to end her life and Clay is one of the reasons why. The book was very realistic. .
The events that occurred in the book actually do happen in real life. I could say that the characters are credible because of the way they portray their roles. The characters portrayed realistic individual personalities which can be observed in most high schools and colleges. Most of these personalities can be observed within the youth where other people's criticisms greatly affect the individual. This is one of the main problems of Hannah Baker in the novel. Hannah lost the will to live after she lost her friends, rumors were made about her and she was used and sexually abused. Hannah's life started to become a crossroad. Hannah feels caught between two different paths, and does not know which way to turn for help. She was faced with a lot of succeeding events that pushed her to take the path where she can feel no more pain. She was forced to end her life because of the experiences that she couldn't bear anymore. These events that took place are also realistic in nature, where an individual of low self-esteem could convince themselves that nobody is there to help and nobody is willing to help, which leads to suicide.
There were a lot of characters in the book with different personalities and attitudes. There was this one guy whom I like the most. His name was Tony. He was the guy that Hannah entrusted the second set of tapes to. In the first chapter, Hannah told her listeners that she had two rules, to listen and to pass the tapes to the next person. She told them that if one of them did not obey the rules, then the second set of tapes will be released in public.
