Growing up I never really looked at religion as a huge thing. My family isn't very religious, and we just never really talked about it. I don't really know what I would call myself, but for the most part I don't know what to believe and honestly don't really believe in anything at all when it comes to religion. In high school I had some very religious friends but they never forced me to be involved with religion. This thanksgiving break I decided to attend church service at Cornerstone Christian Church in O'Fallon Illinois. I decided on this because it was something I was completely unaware of and was somewhat interested to learn about.
My alarm went off at about 8:00 A.M to go to the church service at 9:45. I drove to my best friends house because I was attending church service with her and her family. When we arrived at the church I really didn't know what to expect. I sat there for the whole service and there was a lot that I learned from just one hour of listening. From the service that I went to, this is what I got out of it; in the future Jesus is going to be coming back during a time called the revelation to take all the people who are believers with him to heaven. Everyone else on Earth will stay and have to go through what is known as "hell on Earth." Coming from someone that has never even read the bible I was really shocked to listen to the different things Christian people believe.
I feel like I've actually learned a lot from going to one church service. I learned that everyone should be free to believe anything they want to believe. It was very interesting to see that other people actually believe in stuff like "Jesus" and "God," things I've never really thought of before. I think the thing I enjoyed about going to church was meeting all the super nice people. People I didn't even know asking about my life and me. It was something I wanted to go back to.
