There are an abundance of people currently in the public eye who have a great deal to do with our country and the way that it has been managed. With the 2016 presidential election underway, new candidates are emerging and trying to make their mark on US citizens. One of the candidates has been a highly influential individual who has had her fair share of political involvement over the years. Hillary Clinton is running for a second time in the Democratic Party and seems to have captured the attention of voters nationwide yet again. Most newspaper articles and social websites describe Clinton to be tenacious and devoted; these words truly do describe this woman and the effort she puts forth to get things done in America. .
Hillary Clinton has not only held a First Lady title for two terms next to her husband and former president Bill Clinton, but also served as the secretary of state for current president Barack Obama. Tenacious as they come, Clinton has put aside the well known fits in her personal and private life to push for change in America. After losing a well fought battle against Mr. Obama in 2008, Clinton was quick to accept the new President's offer to serve as his secretary of state. After eight years of Bush foreign policy, Hillary was very active in starting to restore America's standing in the world. Even former Republican Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said she "ran the State Department in the most effective way that I've ever seen."(Hillary for America, "Hillary's Story") Not only did she help reform the State Department, She built a coalition for tough new sanctions against Iran that brought them to the negotiating table and she brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that ended a war. She was a forceful champion for human rights, internet freedom, and rights and opportunities for women and girls, LGBT people and young people all around the globe.
