Personal Narrative - A Book That Binds

Before I knew it, mom was waking us up to get us ready for our first day of school. I was in first grade and Danielle was in sixth. I was overjoyed knowing that I got to ride on the same bus as my big sister. I jumped out of bed and went over to my dresser to find the perfect outfit. I put on my blue shorts with a matching shirt. I put my socks on and slipped into my new white Ked's shoes. An hour passed by and we were almost ready to leave. Dad left us a note on the counter and wished Danielle and I a good first day at school. Mom took a quick picture of Danielle and I before we left. I hugged mom real tight and gave her a big kiss. She told us she loved us and I knew she meant it. We quickly raced out the door and ran to the bus stop. I remember feeling as if the bus was never going to get there. A couple minutes later, we saw a big yellow bus coming our way and I realized it was for us.          .
We got to school and I was in awe at how big my school was. There was a playground to the left that had monkey bars and slides. As I was walking off the bus, the bus driver wrote "24" on my hand so I would remember what bus to get on at the end of the day. I followed Danielle into the school and she took me to my locker. I opened it and put my backpack in there so it was safe. My locker was right across from the classroom so I knew where I was going. Danielle told me she had to go so I hugged her real tight and let her know that I loved her. She walked down the hallway and disappeared into the crowd with the rest of the students. The bell rang as I was walking into class, which meant the day was going to begin. I found my name on the desk and took a seat next to the other kids at my table. The teacher walked in and I was more than excited to get to meet her. She walked up to the front of class smiling and introduced herself as "Ms. Adams". She talked to our class about her favorite food, color, activity and book.
