Despite of the fact that black box has its perks, the reason black box became more popular was due to its negatives. Many of the critics and consumer advocated believe that the black box is an invasion of our privacy. This is due to the fact that the information such as speed, airbag deployment times, whether the brakes were applied, if seat-belts were worn are not exclusive to its owners, it is also accessible to law enforcement officials. For many of the customers, this is the most difficult part to overcome; the idea that there is someone out there who is watching how hard or soft we hit our break, whether they have over sped. The idea that the information we may not want to disclose to another person may fall into the wrong hands. For example, hackers are always on the hunt of controlling that legally don't belong to them so by implementing the black box we are giving allowing them to have access to our information. .
Another emphasis on how technology can affect privacy of people is mentioned in the article "the pros and cons of surveillance society". This article written by nick Bolton focus on two points; the first point of view are of the people who believe that wearable cameras and computers do not leave people with privacy in public, whereas the other point of view consist of the idea that those devices can help us live in a better and a safer place. The question that arises from these difference of opinions: Does the positive of living in a society where justice if fully served out weighs the positive of living in a society where people are fully able to keep their private life separated. The first positive of having a surveillance camera is that there is always a legal record of a crime which can be used as a tool to solve a crime. For example, if a person who is falsely accused of committing a crime he/she has not committed, then that someone can direct the government officials to the place where she was at the time of the crime; government can pull surveillance footage from that place and if he/she was there then because of the video footage the innocent party can be exonerated.
