For instance, when the bandits came and stayed without permission in the colony and proved as a threat to his society he showed full confidence which led to his people not completely panicking, unlike the boys in the novel who became complete savages. However, confidence does not prove as the only necessity for the make up of a good leader, but also the ability to delegate roles proves vital for a good leader.
Delegation proves as a vital quality for an effective leader. One leader alone can not effectively lead a society; therefore other trustworthy members must become delegated with tasks to help the leader. In the article "The 10 Effective Qualities of a Team Leader," Sherrie Scott emphasizes, "Delegating certain tasks to trustworthy team members allows the leader to focus on improving workplace functions and productions" (Scott). When a leader delegates tasks to others, he helps make others feel important and valued. Delegation also gives the leader more time to focus on other more major tasks to keep the society in order. For example, Ralph delegated hunting to Jack which quenched Jack's thirst for power as well as allowed for Ralph to work on more important tasks such as building shelters.
