The Limits of Gun Control

 

            According to the National Crime Victimization, 467,321 persons were victims of a crime committed with a firearm in 2011. [Smith, Paul 29 July 2013]In the same year, data collected by the FBI [Smith, Paul, 29 July 2013] show that firearms were used in 68 percent of murders, 41 percent of robbery offenses and 21 percent of aggravated assaults nationwide. Moreover, having Gun control laws can decreases crime if we regulates them. Personally having access to firearms makes killing easy, efficient, and impersonal, which increases crime activities. For example, allowing untrained people to carry guns puts others at risk and it can result in self-inflicting injuries both by suicide and unintentional incidents. For these reasons, the government has regulated the manufacturing, sale, usage and possession of fire arms Gun control, which can limit the access of criminals getting their hands on firearms, which will lead to the decrease of violent crime. There is no easy solution to gun violence but there are some measures that can be implemented that can decrease 1gun violence such as regulating and monitoring them better this can cause a decrease in overall gun violence. .
             Columnist Jason Whitlock opinions on gun control is straight forward, he believes that gun control can cause more overall harm than good by exploring the case of Jovan Belcher. Jovan Belcher was a Kansas City chief linebacker who shot his pregnant girlfriend. And then drove to his practice facility and apologized to his coach and kill himself. In his column on gun control, Whitlock talked about Jovan Belcher's final act – he wonder why Jovan belcher apologized to his coaches before killing himself. Moreover, Whitlock talks about how guns can cause violence. He also discussed the second amendment as rationalization and how the society entertain violence by allowing people to kill each other. It's ironically because Whitlock compare gun violence to football, many worship football, a game where men battle each over a little piece of ball.
