He states that, based on one research with results, participants had difficult and longer time recalling a complex task when they had listened to music (Ciotti). He explains this result with reasons that, since music demand a lot of attentions, music can take attentions and concentrations away from studying (Ciotti). He also explains even if the music is very subtle, it can still interfere and badly affect the learning abilities. Because in studying situations, people are trying to learn something new or use something new to accomplish that studying (Ciotti). Since Gregory seems to be knowledgeable about the researches, his explanations seems to be very reliable. However, there is one important information he is missing which is the information of the research. He posts the link for the research on his website, but the link is dead. So, no one can actually know the detailed information about the research. Although he provides brief summary of the research and its results, it's not enough to fully trust in his statement, since there are no detailed information about the research. His account must have been much credible, if there were more detailed information of the research or if the link was not dead. .
One of the other scientists, Duncan Graham-Rowe, also states music interfere with studying (Graham-Rowe). He seems to be very confidence about his statement which can be seen by looking at his article's name "Kill the music if you want good grades." He talks about the research that Sarah Ransdell, a psychologist at Florida Atlantic University have tackled. The result is that playing music slowed the students down by an average of 60 words per hour which shows the students did not cope well with the task of listening and writing simultaneously (Graham-Rowe). But he also talks about how students with music training were not as badly distracted. However, he just states this and does not explain whether music helps or interfere them.
