The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin – Response Paper

Therefore, he had the brilliant idea of disguising his hand, and writing an anonymous paper. Later, at night, he went to the printing-house and place it under the door, so that at the next morning it was found. And when it happened at the next morning, his brother and the other gentlemen started commenting it (at Franklin's hearing), they approve it and published it. After this event, he continued writing anonymously and such writings kept being published.
Franklin had literary sensitivity and respected women. When he writes about his mother, he refers to her as a mother who had likewise an excellent constitution; she suckled all her ten children. He intimately acquainted John Collins, with whom he disputed sometimes. Once, they shared arguments about educating the female sex in learning, and about their abilities to study. Collins believed that there existed natural differences between gender, and basically, that it was improper for women to become educated. Franklin completely took the opposite side. He believed that Collin's arguments were more eloquent, because he had a ready plenty of words, but after not seeing him for some time, he started writing his arguments about the topic and send them to him afterwards. Collins replied, and Franklin wrote back and so on. After three or four letters, Franklin's father happened to find his papers and read them. .
Without entering into discussion his father took the occasion to talk to him about the manner of his writing. He made an observation that although he had the advantage of correct spelling and pointing, he fell far short in elegance of expression, in method and in perspicuity. Franklin then developed the determination to make an effort to improve.
At this point a doubt rises in me; considering the topic on women's education, why does Franklin's father gives more importance to grammar than to the content of thoughts and beliefs about women?.
