Compare and Contrast - MLK and Julius Caesar

 

             was a leader in the African American Civil Right Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs. He organized many protests against the unfair treatment of African American during the 1960s. Julius Caesar was the greatest ruler of the Roman Empire who overthrew the republic and crowned himself emperor. He founded the empire by destroying the vikings and making them his slaves. As leaders, they were both well supported, which reveals that people support leaders who help them support their own human rights. .
             People support leaders who brings them equality. As the author writes, "a Nobel Peace Prize-winner is dead in an assassination" (Breslin). Martin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize because he organized many non-violence protests to fight for people's equalities, which made them believe that he is a great leader. Julius Caesar also gained supports from people who retrieved equalities with his help. As Shakespeare writes, "He heath brought many captives home to Rome. Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill?" (3.2.88-89) Julius Caesar would like to pay for the captives' equalities, it makes people appreciate him and honor him. Leaders who fight for people's freedoms and equalities protects people's human rights, which helps them gain more supports.
             People support leaders who aim at helping the low classes. As the author writes, "The capitol of the United States was gray and dim behind a shroud of smoke from fires set by people who are black and who no longer will live in this country as white people want them to" (Breslin). African Americans were considered low classes because of their unfair treatment. Martin Luther King was the one who stood up to help the low-class protect themselves, his courage inspire the people as a leader, which is one of the reasons that makes him a popular and respected.
