While on an electric scooter I noticed my older sister Rosa catching up to me. As we're racing each other our mom is holding our baby sister Emilia in her arms and at the same time yelling at us "Stop fooling around or you're going to hear a mouth full from your dad!" Giggling, we turn our scooters around and start heading back to our house. It was a very hot and humid day that summer, every day was spent as if it were our last one with each other. There wasn't a day where we weren't enjoying each other's company as sisters. You would think that with Rosa being thirteen years older than me it would be like fire and ice, not a great combination to start with. What made our bond worthwhile was having a younger sibling in which we both shared the role as older sisters. The bond you share with a sibling can never be tampered with.
Rosa found everything amusing, when she laughed she would turn red as a tomato and it would eventually leave her without breath. She had a heartwarming smile along with the deepest dimples I've ever seen in my life. Her voice sounded so kind and cheerful. Even though she was paralyzed from the waist down, I would forget she was handicapped. She loved anything that involved music or singing. Her biggest obsessions were; Enrique Iglesias, Destiny's Child, and Britney Spears. I can never forget the story I heard about her Enrique Iglesias concert experience. That day she cried out of happiness and almost fainted out of excitement in her wheel chair when he came up on stage to perform while my mom tried to keep her in control. Whenever Rosa would go out somewhere she was always dressed to impress with her hair and makeup nicely done. It didn't matter where she was going, whether if it was going to the grocery store or just going to the mall with her friends. She was the type of girl that was always up to date with the latest trends and fashion. .
I remember when I was 7 years old we were at a beach in Mexico and I was holding onto her beach chair while waves came crashing into us.
