Project Strategy.
As a community development worker I have recognize that the best way of running a successful community development project is to encourage partnership with the people of the community I am working with. This will ensure that the project's main principle is built upon the notion of improving the community based on what the people want.
In order to achieve active collaboration with the community in planing this project, I will need to look at ways to access information from the community through research and direct consultation. To acquire this information, I have completed a community development profile assessment for Wyndham city council regarding the community unmet need in health care services. I have also had direct consultation with some of the residents in the community through attending community group functions and workshop hosted by my 3rd year field placement. In conclusion of the findings from the community profile assessment and consultation from the community group events, it has been identified that Wyndham city council need a distinctive inter-professional health care facility where people can go seek primary health support and health information in order to improve their health. .
The inter-professional health care centre will be built in the new extension block at Werribee Mercy Hospital. This location is centred between Werribee and Hoppers crossing area; which is the most populated area in Wyndham, also the location will be an idea spot for traveling due to it being surrounded by public transportation. There are buses that runs from Werribee station directly to the clinic and also just a five minute walk from hoppers crossing train station to the centre. The inter-professional health care centre will be funded by Wyndham city council, which will be approved by the local government. The city council will provide most of the core founding, while other cost of running the centre will be generated through fund raising events and charity donations hosted by the community.
