Stopping Community Gang Violence

Being taken care of by groups of people can feel accepted and feel like you belong. According to Choo, Kyung-Seok (2007) author of Gangs and Immigrant Youths reports "shows that about 33% of the adolescents (383 out of 774) of the adolescents served by the center are in some way involved in gang-related activities."(Choo Web.) I believe that simply only solution is to fix the economic issues by improving government to help pass laws that can help our neighborhood.
Often time's youths do go to school; however a large fraction gets caught in the cycle of gang activities which leads less opportunity for better education. When these minority youths go to school they get stressed because they don't have enough resources or do not understand what's going on. Many of those kids who have immigrant parents are not educated so when they come home they aren't able to provide enough guidance to help them. In the book, Always Running by Luis Rodriguez mentions his frustration and what he was going through when it was about his struggles of teacher and schools. "I wanted to be able to bring a whole school to its knees and even make teachers squirm."(Rodriguez 42.) This is where gang shows how easy it is to manipulate or influence kids which lead them to join gangs. Also in the book, The Dream Shattered by Patrick Du Phuoc Long he pointed out that, "A child struggling in the classroom and receiving nothing but criticism at home because of poor academic performance is likely to become truant."(Long 94.) This is how the gangs come in and easily influence the youths to join them. Simply only way to address issue against gangs is the education system has to be improved to really help out these youths.
The places people live tend to have gangs which can cause people to join gangs or commit crimes. Racism is everywhere we go, at every corner, and it can be challenging for certain minority groups such as Blacks and Latinos.
