History and Music of The Eagles

Produced by Glyn Johns still, and released in April of 1973 it reached the Top 40 with the single "Tequila Sunrise". Onward to their next album however, their desire for the Eagles to make harder rock music clashed with Glyn Johns' sense of them as a country rock band and they ultimately split from their producer after only recording two tracks. The Eagles had changed producers going from Glyn Johns to Bill Szymczyk, which ultimately gave them the opportunity to approach their albums as more rocking. Finally it was their third album On the Border in 1974 that the Eagles had finally reached their first number one hit. It was "Best of My Love", and that was what set the Eagles on fire for the coming years. Also added to the group was the guitarist Don Felder, old friend of Bernie Leadon, who joined shortly after the album was released. Don Felder had impressed the rest of the group so much that they had to put him in the group. And according the Felder's hit book and autobiography it wasn't until Bernie that Felder didn't start replaying the acoustic guitar, he states that "Bernie was one of the best things to ever happened to me" (Felder, pg36). Felder had a lot to be grateful to, and the world had a lot to be grateful for in Leadon. In 1975 when the Eagles released One of These Nights, that album had finally earned them their right to their first Grammy for the song Lyin' Eyes, another number one hit. Frey and drummer Henley soon became very familiar and great at songwriting but for Leadon, it wasn't the same. Leadon wasn't pleased in the direction the band was heading and left and was replaced by Joe Walsh.
Adding Walsh to the group had only made their Rock n Roll that much more Rock n Roll, and following that sound was the album Hotel California done in 1976. My personal favorite, the Eagles went wild. The Album certified platinum in one week.
