Causes of the American Revolution

The Revolutionary war fought from 1775-1783 was the War for Independence from the British Empire leaving the 13 colonies to be an independent nation and become the United States. They even went on to challenge Britain as a major world power who was considered to be the greatest military force at that time. There were numerous economic, political and social causes, which led to the American Revolution where they eventually won their freedom from a largely disconnected nation. This significant event for the United States affected the nation drastically where their independency from Britain also led to major changes.
There were many fundamental reasons for the American Revolution where most of the revolts against the British empire were due to the political difficulties they had been facing. The French and Indian War also known, as the Seven Years War in Europe was a huge conflict between England and France and their Indian allies. Although Britain had won the war, King George II decided to undertake a new colonial policy intended to tighten political control over its rather autonomous colonies. There were several reasons for this, one being that the Indians still posed a threat to the British government and the other being that the French and Indian War which lasted seven years, left Britain in a huge debt. This aggravated the colonies in America as the King wanted them to help pay for their defence and the expenses. .
The first of several laws to achieve this was the Proclamation of 1763. It "preserved to the said Indians" 1 the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains and ordered white settlers "there forthwith to remove themselves from such Settlements" 2. The edict forbade private citizens and colonial governments to buy land or make agreements with natives compelling the empire to conduct all official relations. In 1764, Britain passed a law known as the Currency Act, preventing the colonies to print and use their own money.
