One indicator of a society that is doing well for itself is the diversity of its art. The Italian Renaissance is no different in this aspect as it was one of the greatest artistic times in history, especially for Italy. During the Renaissance many artists emerged, that are still renowned to this day. The technological advances as well as ideas have carried on well into modern times giving us some of our most frequently used modern inventions. One of the men credited with so many of these great inventions is Leonardo da Vinci, who became famous not only for his inventions and ideas, but also for his magnificent works of art. The Italian Renaissance began in the 14th century and lasted until the 16th century. This historical moment in time was a great age of technological achievement as well as cultural transformation. One major aspect of this time period that still influences aspects of our modern day was art. Once the Renaissance began one could easily find art as it was everywhere. During this time many small as well as huge works of art were commissioned by nobility, as well as other prominent families throughout Europe. One such family was the Medici family of Florence Italy. The commissioned works of art subsequently turned artists in celebrities in their own way, and their popularity has only grown with time. Many of the architects as well as the artists of the Renaissance era incorporated humanistic characteristics to their work. The Renaissance has left our modern society great works of art, and more arguably some of the greatest artists of known history. The way in which Renaissance art was able to capture the human spirit was a new and fascinating concept of the time.
