When two people come in for the same job but won't take the price cut. Sure, it can be better for the owner of the business, but it is not a good thing for America. It will degrade the level or work, usually causing worse work conditions. Along with degrading work ethics, the lack of skill that can come with hiring illegals; having a lack of knowledge in a job can be devastating. For example, a construction team is looking to hire a worker, a citizen who went to college and got proper training is applying, along with an illegal with no school training. The manager interviews both of them, the citizen with an education is a perfect candidate, but wants top pay for his services. The illegal knows basic skills, but was never trained, is willing to take low pay for his services. The manager wants to save money and hires the illegal; although the manager thinks he will be saving money, the illegal makes minor mistakes that can cause thousands. Not only is the illegal causing thousands in mistakes, but they have yet to learn English, and the communication barrier becomes a problem as well. "In 2009, less than 6 percent of legal immigrants were admitted because they possessed skills deemed essential to the U.S. economy (Immigration Issues). These little mistakes are causing millions of dollars because of a short-term fix with smaller wages. "President Obama, who in 2008 said he would push for a law that would grant many of these immigrants legal access to jobs in the United States, instead deported a record number of immigrants working here illegally" (Immigration and American Jobs). Opening the borders have caused for an even higher increase of illegal immigration. Obama wanted this to be a way for illegals to come into the U.S. without being an illegal. Obama thought this would be an incentive for people in other countries to become a U.S. citizen legally, but it has back fired.
