Studies have shown that wards of child protective services are more vulnerable to the hazards of teenage pregnancy and parenthood than girls not involved with child protective services (Connolly et al.,2012, p.615). According to research done by the Canadians found that teens within the foster care involvement are four times more likely than other teens who are not involved in the foster care to become pregnant (Connolly et al.,2012, p.615). Adolescent girls who have been in foster care seemed to be more challenged because of the fact that they experience out of home placement. When looking at adolescents mothers who are in the system are faced with many adversities that have an affect on them. It is also important to recognize that the things these adolescents are faced with in the child protective services are what place them at risk for early pregnancy (Connolly et al.,2012, p.627). .
             The feelings of being rejected from multiple foster care homes usually different from adolescents who live at home and do not experience abandonment and rejection from their families. One hardships that these young mothers are faced with the lack of emotional support. When looking at emotional support young mothers stressed the fact that they just wanted someone to be there for them during their pregnancy(Connolly et al.,2012, p.624). These young mothers saw that as barrier for them in receiving support was the instability of their living placements in moving from home to home and not really having a trusted person they could depend on to protect them. Not only are these adolescents face with lack of emotional support, but as well as being moved from home to home and how it can leave a traumatic and harmful effect on adolescents development. These girls are faced with poverty issues. When we look at adolescent mothers and adolescents without children they are faced with same obstacles, but tend to have a better outcome because they may have more support from family members.
