Why People Should get Vaccinated

Vaccines help can help out developing countries, and this does not only mean the mortality rate but also economically. It is fairly obvious that if there are less sick people in a country then more people can work and the country can produce more with the aid of more workers, but because there are so many people it also keeps the country from being able to grow financially. The reason the economy is held back is due to the fact that when there are sick people and the country has to take care of these people or let them die. "In India, for example, the introduction of childhood rotavirus vaccination is projected to save nearly US$ 21 million in treatment costs per year, while the projected averted treatment costs between 2011 and 2020 for pneumococcal and H. influenza type b pneumonia may be as high as US$ 1.5 billion". It is estimated that if developing countries vaccinated 90 percent of their population with the influenza type b and pneumococcal conjugate vaccines that they could raise their overall GDP $18 million and for other countries like India and China it can raise by more that $6 billion annually (Mirelman, et al). It is understandable that a lot of developing countries are hesitant to spend a lot of money on programs for their people and their countries, but with this information it is hard to understand understand why a company would not invest in vaccinating its people. If a country a invested on vaccines on the front end, then the people would be able to produce more on the back end giving the economic position that every country desires: growth.
Opponents might state that vaccines are too expensive for people to just easily vaccinate 90 percent of their population, especially when discussing developing countries. Others even accuse the large pharmaceutical companies of raising the prices of overcharging for the vaccines they sell to developing countries to exploit them.
