Holmes and Freud in The Seven-Per-Cent Solution

For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation." With those words, Watson confirmed that his friendship with Holmes was strong and deep, based on the trust and love they gave to each other. On the report of Hannah Cleaver, Martha "was Freud's greatest inspiration, sharing his appetite for cocaine, although not for sex. She was the reason he became a psychoanalyst, but then described his work as 'pornography.'" Those words are enough to show that Freud does not get any support from his wife. .
Although Holmes and Freud have many similarities in their personalities, they still have many differences. Religion is one of the most important facts that influences a person. Holmes does not follow any religion so all of his comments are based on logical thinking. Holmes can proudly announce to Freud about Holmes's personality, "I never guess. It is an appalling habit, destructive to the logical faculty." Contrasting with Holmes, Freud is born in a Jewish family. His Jewish faith is passed from one generation to another generation in his family. Freud also explains some of the illusions based on his religious beliefs. The most concerned issues in Holmes's personal life are family and relationships. Holmes does not have girlfriend, or in other words, he does not allow any one step into his life. Holmes's only relationships are with his brother, Mycroft, his landlady, Mrs. Hudson, and his best friend, Dr. Watson. On the other hand, Freud is married but, according to the first biography of Martha Freud, Martha ends "sexual relations with her husband after the birth of their sixth child." Freud the stayed with his housekeeper in Vienna then in 1938, he moved to England. Another small difference between Holmes and Freud is their education. Although Holmes shows his huge knowledge in science and mathematics fields, there are no records to prove for Holmes's educations.
