             The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has "one overarching mission--to strengthen the competitiveness of the U.S. Economy" (Uschamber.com). The Chamber of Commerce represents businesses and their interests, it has proved to be highly conservative, constantly backing Republicans and some conservative Democrats who support business interests. The chamber is always lobbying for bills and provisions that advocate for pro-business policies and growth of the economy. Along with lobbying in the government the Chamber has its hands in the election process as well, having large effects on the outcome of results and 93% of reported expenditures going towards Republicans (U.S. Chamber Watch). It is a massive interest group boasting more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region. By joining the Chamber of Commerce a business can receive a large amount of exposure getting a large publicity boost in both the online and offline advertising world such as getting your business in the local paper or welcome packets for new citizens. A member of the Chamber is able to get direct access to other professionals in their field and receive mailing list access to other businesses who may want your services (Tooley). .
             The Chamber being such a large interest group allows it to have a very far reaching influence on many issues in the government and politics. According the Chamber of Commerce's website it focuses and advocates for 10 key challenges: Tax and entitlement reform, energy, healthcare, international trade and investment, a competitive workforce, capital markets, reliable and secure infrastructure, legal reform, innovation, and regulatory reform. In order to accomplish this the Chamber uses it's vast network of over 1500 representatives of member corporations who serve voluntarily to create committees, subcommittees, task forces, and councils.
