The BLET is recommended by most police departments in the state that I live in (North Carolina) because this training has valuable information and knowledge needed to be a great police officer. .
2. Discuss the current hiring trends in the law-enforcement field. Describe why these hiring practices are successful and/or not successful.
The current hiring trends in the law enforcement field differ between each police department. But most are similar in some ways as well. Each department is looking for someone who can "serve and protect" as any police department would want. If you feel you are going to be scared if you see someone break out a gun within a grocery store, then this position is not for you as you would need to be there to protect to civilians that are in that grocery store, call for back up and try to control the situation as well. It also seems as if more and more law enforcement agencies are resorting to the internet to post their current job opening for people to view and possibly see how they can apply and where they can apply. Other police departments have a website set up that contains a wide variety of information about that department as well as career openings to which others can view. Then there are several states that team up together and have one statewide site that contains career openings and the steps needed to become a police officer as well as a contact phone number to speak with someone about a certain career within a police department. Most of these hiring processes are successful as they do draw in much attention from those who are in college looking for a career as a police officer to which they can view these jobs while in college and prepare for their future career in the criminal justice field. But posting these jobs on the internet may not be successful as those who are looking for a career as a police officer may not have access to the internet to which they are unable to view these jobs.
