With the advent of globalization, the construction of buildings like residential or commercial forms the basis of economic development. The ever increasing population may result in excess demand for housing complex and without the availability of houses there would be people homeless and penniless. So the construction of houses and buildings are necessary for the absorption of the additional population. This is just the economic side of the development of residential complex (King). .
The negative side which is the thesis statement deals in the compromising the environmental aspect of parks. The benefits of the park are diverse in nature. This is the place where the children play around after their school, the oldage people spend time by gossiping with others to drive away their boredom, the park also conducts several functions and performances which forms a living for many people like the people who organize lightings, stage props, decorations and other members of the administration (Laaksoharju, Rappe and Kaivola). The destruction of the parks would mean potential loss of living for them. The most important problem or the negative impact of the change is the ecological imbalance. The change in the park meant that the trees and the plants had to be cut down for construction of buildings. The deforestation causes loss of precious and exotic trees. The name of the park "garden of three senses" is derived from the existence of the three exotic trees and plant species. The conservation campaigners are of the view that the planning of the government to increase the supply of houses may seem to be economically sound but it also threatens destruction of the most precious landscapes of the country through the promise of economic development (Polasky). It is repeatedly mentioned by the environmental activists that the well maintained landscape and biodiversity enhance the heritage of the country but it is the economic development that is required for the economic progress of Singapore.
