Despite the controversy that follows these provisions they have been extremely successful in helping prevent terrorist attacks within the United States.
The current United States policy on terrorism is an important aspect of life for Americans. The current policy on terrorism is known as the USA Patriot Act has been foiling terrorist plots since its enactment by congress on October 26, 2011. According to an article released by proquest the USA Patriot Act ".substantially changed the host of pre existing statutes and legal procedures governing domestic law enforcement, foreign intelligence, immigration and border control, and individual privacy rights" (Proquest par 1). Theses changes have helped heighten national security and help control terrorism. According to an article released by the Los Angeles Times entitled "The Patriot Act; Does it Actually work" the author Jena Bake McNeill states that ".authorities have stopped at least 26 other terrorist plots since September 11, 2001" (McNeil par.3). This data supports the use of the Patriot Act. Like with all good things in this world comes sceptics and liberals. The liberals are afraid that their constitutional rights can and are being abused. Despite what liberals think and discuss the average American is and will never be affected by any of the provisions provided under the law. The bottom line being that the Patriot Act targets terrorist and terrorist organizations, if the liberals are not a terrorist and are not affiliated with any terrorist organizations they should focus their energy on more pressing manors. As Jena Baker McNeill stated "Terrorist seek to evade the law, not follow it, and are very creative in their attempts to do so.
