Anorexia Nervosa is mostly known as Anorexia; an eating disorder that is characterized by abnormal low body weight. When an individual is a victim of this disease, it's mostly because they fear of gaining weight and a distorted perception of body weight. Moreover, these individuals have a very high value on controlling their weight and body shape by using extreme ways to stay in the shape they desire. Due to their desired wish of how they want their body to look, they start to become disgusted with how their bodies look, which then when an individual is eating, it may become very difficult for them to eat. In order to continuing losing weight and preventing from gaining, people who suffer from this disease have a severely restrict amount of food they are allowed to eat. However, they control how many calories their body intakes by vomiting after eating, abusing the use of laxatives, diuretics, diet aids or enemas. By eating a small portion of food per day, these individuals also do excessive exercise to loose weight in order for them to obtain the body shape they desire. However, other individuals with anorexia binge and purge who also have an intense fear of gaining weight. Many individuals relate anorexia with weight, yet it is also an unhealthy way to cope with emotional problems or painful events. Also, the food and weight-related issues are symptoms of something deeper in individual's emotions, for example, depression, insecurity, feeling out of control loneliness, or pressure to be the ideal image of "perfect". When people struggle with anorexia, they are mostly being distracted from reality; for instance, when an individuals thinks only about dieting, exercising, and weight loss, they do not have to face other problems or deal with complications. Moreover, these particular individuals see dieting and anorexia as the same thing, yet they are different. Anorexia is attempted to control their life and emotion, when dieting is only controlling their weight.
