Types of Eating Disorders

 

            Eating disorders are serious conditions that relate to persistent eating behaviors that impact the health, emotions, and the ability of function of the human body in a negative manner. The most common eating disorders presented today in society are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. However, eating disorders are mostly presented in a human when they focus too much in their weight, body shape, and food, which lead into dangerous eating behaviors that affect the human body negatively. An individual who struggles with an eating disorder usually begins with unrealistic self-critical thoughts about their body image and then their eating habits begin to become disrupt; due to this this individuals daily life become affected negatively. However, eating disorders is not only about weight and food, but also an excuse. Many individuals start to use food as a coping mechanism to deal with painful or uncomfortable emotional or events to help them cope with their feeling and situation. Moreover, by having an eating disorder it impacts the human body by not obtaining the adequate nutrition it needs. If the human body does not get the nutrition it needs, it harms the heart, bones, mouth, digestive system, and teeth leading to other diseases. Eating disorders are more often developed in young and teen adults, although they can develop at any age. It is stated that young girls and women are the primary victims of eating disorder due to their idealistic perfect image they believe in. Boys and men can also be affected by this disease, but only about a quarter of men obtain this disease. Individuals who are affected by this disease have abnormal behavior and it is more likely that these particular individuals have problems, yet they tend to hide and deny they have a problem. However, it has been proven that with treatment, individuals who obtained a eating disorder can return to healthier eating habits and stop serious complication they had caused due to the unhealthy eating disorder.
