A common perception of a family that comes into our minds with the word "family" is a husband, a wife and their two kids. But this is a family of 21st century perhaps. This is not the case with every family, there are deviations like may be more than two children or may be a single parent. These deviations makes the definition of a "family" a debatable issue for most sociologists. This term has been perceived in different meanings in different societies, regions, laws, states and even religions. The concept is explained by social conservatives as the structural units each playing its part like father, mother and children. Another group of sociologists defines a family as the structural units are related to each other. However, a more general definition for a family is given as: "A socially recognized group (usually joined by blood, marriage, or adoption) that forms an emotional connection and serves as an economic unit of society." Families are categorized into different types by sociologists. This classification is based on the hilarity in which entities are added. A term "family of orientation" is used in this regard. This refers to the family that has a new addition (birth) of a member. "Family of Procreation" is a term used for a family unit that is formed as a result of marriage [ CITATION Por11 l 1033 ]. .
2. Marriage Patterns.
Marriage is not simply a sexual relation between two persons, it is a complex term. In 21st century, this term has shaped even more complex definition because of complexity in social behaviors. Single parenting is when the married couple decides a breakup after a child birth and start living separately. The one raising the child is called the single parent. Another concept is cohabitation, in which two person's shares the same residence but they cannot be called married according to the definition and social perceptions.
