Analysis Essay - Abortion

There are organizations, group and even societies for and against abortion. There are the pro-choicers who argue for abortion and there are the pro-lifers who argue against abortion. Another of this situation arose since the Supreme Court handed down its 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision allowing virtually unlimited abortions which has resulted to over 54million abortions. And this court decision has increased the controversy of the subject in the society. Also, there is a number of websites and advertisements based on the same subject of abortion widely spread in societies. .
From a personal point of view, Pro-Life Across America employs the use of billboards as a genre since it is one easy way to get the attention of the public. According to the director, Mary Ann Kuharski, "as Americans we find ourselves on the road to and from work, stuck in traffic, heading out of town, running errands, etc. Typically we drive the same paths day in and day out. When we place our message on highways and byways we are able to be a visual reminder, an educational outreach with our important messages. Best of all, it's proven to work! We have received numerous calls from those who have seen our billboards and are affected by the innocence of a baby's photo and a factual message." As she has stated, the billboards have proven to be effected as they have personal stories, "I thought you should know, your billboard saved a baby's life! A mother came in and asked for help after seeing your ad and realizing her baby already had a beating heart!" – Pregnancy Center Counselor, Marshall, TX. "I think you should know your billboard is the reason I cancelled my abortion." –Ann. "I couldn't go through with my abortion after I saw that ad. I never knew the baby's heart was beating at 18 days." -Melanie, OH. .
The purpose of the billboard is to inform the public about quick facts on abortion which they may not know.
