Terrorism in the 21st Century

Terrorism has gained its root so much in the 21st century. This has been made so through radicalization and strong teaching of the Muslim faith to their youths who believe that those people who are not Muslims are pagans and therefore need to be engaged in 'jihad' or holy war. In addition to this, in this century, there are so many learned fellows who have failed to secure jobs and the only alternative solution that they have so far is to join Islamic terrorist groups. According to a television interview they had in the last two weeks, one terrorist, interviewed by the journalist who was twenty said that he joined the terrorists groups because of poverty and that his parents were unable to pay his high school fees (NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Countering Violent Extremism Among Youth to Prevent Terrorism and In Lombardi, 2015).
In this century more than the past centuries, terrorism has become a reality, something that we cannot ignore. In the last decade alone, so many terror activities have occurred that have led to loss of lives while scores have become damaged. In some studies, radicalization has been found to be the key component that drives youths into terrorism. The reason being that the youths are taught in mosques where non-Muslims are not expected to be and so there is no way someone is going to suspect that radicalization and youth registration into terror attack groups is going on. This has endangered the lives of so many people who hence, have become targets.
