Phenomenological Analysis of Edward Snowden

The third theme discussed is media and the political system of the United States. Snowden underlines that the media is controlled by the government in such a way that it is regulated by what is to be released to the public and what is to be held back. Snowden explains that in his position, he is exposed to a lot of information that is disturbing and abusive. And when you talk to somebody, one is told that that is not a problem and eventually gets ignored.
             Research Design.
             The research design that was used in this qualitative analysis was one on one interview. The interviewer was asking the relevant question and based on his knowledge and understanding, and Snowden took the chance to answer them. Snowden explains how the government was controlling the media, how the political system works and the possible repercussions of his action. As far as the state is concerned, Snowden is a traitor who should stand trial. Hence, he doesn't seek asylum in another country to avoid extradition.
             Data Collection.
             A one on one interview was conducted to collect data from Snowden. Glenn Greenward used an open-ended question to get information from Snowden. The meeting started, with Greenward asking the position Snowden had in the NSA. Greenward then went ahead and asked Snowden what made his go ahead and decided to expose some of the secrets that the public did not know about the government actions. Greenward proceeded to ask how the surveillance state functioned. Greenward also asked what he thinks the United States government would respond when they learned of what Snowden has given out.
             Data Analysis.
             The responses of Snowden ware analyzed on the basis of coding the comments. Yellow balloons were used to code any comment that was descriptive and the meaning of the comment stated.
