At first, I found it very challenging to write in business form; there are many rules and guidelines to follow when writing this type of technical paper. I have never done any sort of writing for business prior to unit 3 so this was all a new learning experience for me. There were several things in which I liked and disliked about the lesson, all of which helped me to improve my writing skills in producing a professional essay which will surely come in handy in the near future.
The assignments in Unit 3, along with the timeline, consists of many different styles that make up the business genre. Again, this was difficult for me since I have never written a paper like this before. The application document consists of several parts, all of which are responsible for unique and equally important tasks in composing a professional essay. Without it you would have no way of listing your past experiences and qualifications in order to apply for a job. In my opinion, the cover letter is the most essential part of the application. It is what provides your case for seeking that job position in the first case. Consider it like that introduction to your story; without you are simply giving the employer facts about you without providing any real back story.
Accompanying the cover letter are the resumes and reference list. These are what provide the employer the facts and evidence that you are capable of performing the tasks that the job requires to the best of your ability. With all these things in mind, having a good resume and a convincing list of references, the odds are definitely in your favor for claiming that job opening. Mock interviews are a great way to practice getting a real world experience for what the actual interview would be like, as well as relieving stress and getting nerves under control. With a mock interview you can practice knowing what you're going to say, learn new "key phrases" in order to boost confidence and make yourself more appealing.
