The Yoga Studio.
I always enjoy the drive from my home in Swansea to yoga class. As I leave Swansea and head south through Belleville and then turn right onto Town Hall Road, I anticipate how different I will feel on the way home. Stillpointe Wellness and Yoga Center is far enough out and away from the busyness of the city that I feel like I've been transported into a calmer, quieter world (even if only for a couple of hours). .
Turning into Dorothy Drive I realize it is time to slow down, breathe, and focus on myself. As I make my way to the end of the long rock drive, I take in the countryside all around me, and I begin to feel relaxed. There's an old farm house off to the left, just past the large vegetable garden and the chicken coop. Beside and beyond the house I see a barn and another out building. Ahead of me, as I park my car the newer structure comes into view. It is a rambling ranch-style building of wood and stone. Flowering trees and gardens surround the area. The setting is lovely. A statue of the Buddha posed in full lotus sits quietly near the door, welcoming you with a gentle smile. .
I usually opt to walk the rock path that winds down and around to the back entrance leading directly into the yoga studio. However, the weather is not cooperating, so I will enter through the front door and meander down the long hallway where the treatment rooms are located. Each one is equipped with a massage table and other therapeutic furnishings. I breathe in the aroma of lavender, or maybe it's sandalwood this time. At the end of the hall is a winding planked staircase that leads down into the studio. Once inside the studio space, I remove my shoes and place them into a cubby and find a place for the minimal personal belongings I have brought in with me.
