Endorphins act as a sedative, they are manufactured in your brain, spinal cord and other parts of the body and are release in response to the brain chemicals called neurotransmitters. Endorphins bind to the same receptors as pain medicines, only the activation of these receptors does not lead to addiction. Exercising is an underused treatment for Depression, research has shown it to be an effective treatment for mild to moderate depression. Having a strong social support is important to people treating depression, that's why it's suggested to join a group or a close friend to exercise with. Doing so would allow others to be supportive of the patient (Psychosom Med, 2007). .
             Seeking professional help is a great way for treating depression, while self-care may work for some it may not be enough for others. The types of professional help available vary depending on how the patient describes their depression to a professional. Knowing how frequent the patient feels depressed can help determine the type of help. Frequent depression is feeling sad or depressed daily, once a month, all the time, or when something negative happens. Describing the depression as sever can result to making it difficult to wake up and start the day, feeling hopeless and stuck and even having suicidal thoughts. Duration is another factor, depression can drag on for days, weeks or months, some people even feel like they have been depressed their whole life, this is common for people who are alone for periods of time until they see a loved one or a friend. Once you describe your depression to a professional you can begin to find the right type of therapy (National Institute of Mental Health 2011). .
             Common Types of Therapy .
             Interpersonal Therapy, this approach can help someone identify and resolve problems that contributing to the depression, more commonly in relationships. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), will focus on negative, self-defeating or pessimistic thoughts.
