Dreamliner Security Concerns

In this paper I will discuss the technology that supports In Flight Entertainment in the Boeing 787. Also, I will be discussing the major concerns about network security onboard and the risk of having all of the onboard systems linked via a common network. Finally I will express my opinion of the risk involved in having flight systems linked on the network with the entertainment network.

Note that the word Introduction should not be used as an initial heading, as it's assumed that your paper begins with an introduction.].
             Technology.
There is little brand new technology in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, but rather a lot of common place networking equipment that has never been used the way Boeing has implemented it in the new 787. For example it employs servers, routers, computers, switches, video processers, and general purpose processing units. While some of these components have been used in the aviation industry individually before, Boeing combined them all and more to integrate passenger entertainment, administration/support, and "flight-safety-related control and navigation and required systems" networks[CITATION faacryptome l 1033 ]. .
             Risks.
As expressed by the FAA in their "Special Conditions" docket to Boeing they wanted there to be no possibility of someone deliberately or accidentally accessing aircraft systems through the onboard wireless network because the amount of integration was unprecedented. The biggest risk is from malicious attacks. Protection from these attacks comes in several forms. Two of them are digital encryption and by not allowing information to flow but one direction on the network for the critical systems. The best protection from hackers would be to have completely separate networks with servers separated by "six inches of air", but is not practicable in an airplane due to design costs and weight increases[ CITATION Fox08 l 1033 ].
