Star Wars Ethnography Paper

 

Every Sunday, is Star Wars movie marathon day to this man whom watches episodes 1-6 of the Star Wars movie franchise from beginning to end. All of these are artifacts of the world within Star Wars; the action figures, the alarm clock, and the movies. .
             Everyone one of these items are special and have meaning to them. To this super Star Wars fan, these are all things that he finds enjoyment in because of his passion for the movies. They are special because he placed a value on them when he purchased them. His reasoning for buying them is because they help him feel as if he were a part of the world within the movies. Sunday marathons are his own personal form of rituals that take place because of his devoted love for the Sci-fi flick. This however isn't the only ritual or artifacts within this culture, it's just one in particular. That's what is so fascinating about the Star Wars culture because everyone has their own artifacts that they place value on; and rituals that they partake in whether it's a movie marathon or dressing up for an upcoming convention. Some may find that the fact that he watches every Star Wars movie on Sunday a little odd, but within this culture, this is something that definitely deserves a high-five. Whether you fell in love with the Ewoks of the planet Endor, or to this day you hold your breath every time Darth Vader uses the force to choke his adversaries to death, there are so many different artifacts and rituals that you can associate to the Star Wars culture. .
             Groups of the Culture.
             It's no secret that a Sci-Fi movie is almost never going to appeal to the female genders, because of this it's safe to say that a majority of the people whom associate themselves with the movies are of the male gender. Despite this there is nothing that can keep you from becoming a member of this culture. In the real world of Star Wars, as long as you share a love and passion for George Lucas and his movies, then you are welcome to the club with open arms.
