I've always wanted to become a teacher ever since I was a little girl. I want to fulfill a teaching profession simply because I love children. I feel as if teaching is like being a parent, but with boundaries. For eight hours a day I will be in a classroom teaching, motivating, and protecting my class from any harm coming. I want to become a teacher that my students will remember for a very long time. .
My plan is to guide them to bigger and better things; I want the children to know that no matter how hard something may be, they can do it. I believe that hands-on learning, experimenting, and critical thinking are important within a classroom. Students should not only learn through text, but also through hands-on learning. I believe that this strategy is a lot more effective, especially within an elementary school setting. Critical thinking and experimenting go hand-in-hand with hands-on learning. This strategy allows students to work with their brain and challenge his or her skills. Working with trial and error educates the child more because a child would then realize why something does not belong, or why something does not work. From that point on the child comes up to new strategies to test out until their work becomes successful. Due to its effectiveness, I will incorporate hands-on learning within my lessons.
When I become a teacher I want to let the children express themselves in almost everything we cover in class. Along with creativity I want my students to work with their imagination. It is important for my students to be creative and use their imagination; it allows a child to incorporate his or her ideas to make something different. By incorporating lessons with games and songs it will allow my students to remember what they learn and apply what they remember when it comes to homework, quizzes or tests. .
My goal is to motivate all my students, especially the children who do not have the proper motivation at home.
