Although I'm aware that school is deemed necessary for success, I find the process of attending classes and tackling large amounts of homework to be tedious. I've never had a true care for what some people seem to love. However, my lack of interest is obliterated due to the fact that I am a student athlete. In order to not only play but continue my education I am forced to attend and do well in school. As sad as it may seem. basketball is the only motivation I have to fight through the annoyance of homework, other students, and teachers.
Is homework truly essential? I've asked myself this question over a million times throughout my educational career. The simple thought of knowing homework even exists makes me nauseous Homework is waste of time and trees. My major pet peeve towards this subject is that I feel homework is assigned as busy work. Some teachers assign homework that won't even be graded, so why assign it? It's almost as if teachers today want to punish students by assigning monotonous homework. I believe sitting through an hour and fifteen minute lecture is punishment enough. .
Even more irritating than the futile subject of homework is the existence of other students. This may sound a bit contradicting, but I am truly a friendly person, certain people and their tendencies just drive me insane. For instance there is always a certain array of students in each classroom. There's the teacher's pet, the weird kid, and the know it all. Each of these students do things that I find highly unnecessary. Let's take the teacher's pet for example. This student feels obligated to maybe compliment the teacher on their teaching style or try to befriend them by telling corny jokes or even engaging in meaningless conversations. Then there's the weirdos, they range from gothics to Pokémon fanatics. I hate that this makes me sound rude but there is simply no other way to describe them. Their strange behavior sits a tad uneasy with me.
