In the mid 1660's John Locke focused on philosophy while he lived in Oxford, then he became acquainted with Robert Boyle,who played an important in the early years of the Royal society, who then introduced John Locke to the Royal Society, which was made up of scientist and natural philosophers, and then became a member. John Locke and Anthony Ashley Cooper,the Earl of Shaftesbury, met in 1666 the two shared the same political views,which includes a Protestant constitutional monarchy, civil liberty, religious toleration,the rule of the Parliament, and economic expansion of England, Locke even helped the Earl draft a constitution for the colony of Carolina. Obviously John Locke's life also influenced his philosophies.
Lockean Thought supports John Locke's theories and ideas. The political philosophy of Locke's adult years stemmed from the commonly accepted natural law, under which man had natural rights, not given by any ruler. Soon men came together under a social contract between every member in order to gain advantages they could not have by themselves in a state of nature. This contract of society was the foundation of the contract of government under which all political power is a trust for the benefit of the people and the people are the creators and benefactors of this trust. The main focus of the state that locke maintained was only concerned about the people. Evidently Lockean Thought supports John Locke's theories and ideas.
John Locke had many theories about the government and the way it should be handled. It was certainly the case that tyranny has simulated breakthrough thinking about liberty. This was going on during the mid-seventeenth-century,which was an era of repression, rebellion, and civil war, and there is an outpouring of political pamphlets and tracts, the most influential writings came from John Locke. He his radical view that government is obligated to protect people's life, liberty, and property and also he explained the fundamentals of checks and balances and to limit the government's power.
