Comparison of Rosa Parks and Malala Yousafzai

 

            Malala Yousafzai and Rosa Parks are both proof that a person can bring positive change in the world. They have played an important role in the development of the society. Both parts have their differences and similarities, but when it comes down to it all their fundament for protesting is and was the same - Injustice. .
             Malala Yousafzai was born in 1997, and grew up in the so-called district Swat Valley in Pakistan. She was a student in 2009, when she became known for her anonymous diary (on Urdu) for BBC. Throughout this blog she passed on critical information about life under oppression. Taliban had taken control over parts of the Swat Valley, this resulted in complications and more danger when girls where to attend school. Militant extremist ruined dozens of girls' schools, as an attempt to make women uneducated and obedient. In spite of this, Malala spoke out against the barbarism. She refused to be harassed and insisted on her right to an education. At this point in her life she became a public respected figure. In 2012, when Malala was only at the age of fifteen, she was shot in the head by a brutal terrorist on the bus home from school. Miraculously, thanks to expert medical treatment, she recovered. Today, at the age of seventeen, she has become a global symbol of peaceful protest against tyranny and ignorance. In 2014, Malala also became the youngest Nobel Peace Price winner ever.
             Rosa Parks was born in 1913, in Alabama. She was an Afro-American seamstress, which had an important part in the American Revolution against racism. In December in 1955, a white man demanded to have her bus seat, because the "white" part in the bus was full. Parks refused to give it away. She was exhausted of people looking down on her due to her colored skin. Parks got arrested, sentenced and put in prison. However, E.D Nixon and Clifford Durr paid for her so she was released the same day. The occurrence led to a 381 days long boycott by the colored community of the busses in Montgomery.
