The Trophy Kids Go to Work

As it is stated in "The 'Trophy Kids' Go To Work", Ron Alsop explains, "The superiority factor was measured by responses to such statements as "I deserve favors from others" and "I know that I have more natural talents than most."" This generation certainly has the belief that nothing can stop them from anything. This problem has occurred due to parents, coaches, and teachers. In "The Millennial Muddle," it says, "They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers" (Hoover). These role models decide not to give this generation criticism because they are afraid it will hurt their self-esteem. By not giving criticism, these kids will not learn how to handle failure. These kids will moan and groan when they do not get their way and it is not right. Another growing pain that these trusted leaders do not teach is work ethic. By having a name, which is equivalent to saying that they get special treatment because of their assets, these kids get to have the best accolades as the not-so-fortunate, hard working kids do not get anything in return. However, these kids are learning the ways on how to win and be successful. It is not how well you do the job; it is about if you get it done. The millennials know how to get the job done in order to be successful.
Not only do the leaders of our society give the 'Trophy Kids' a high self-esteem, but they spoil them. More than likely a millennial with a high self-esteem level will directly correspond to being spoiled in a multitude of ways. The biggest way millennials are being spoiled is because they are receiving very little criticism. By giving these kids good grades and high accolades in sports, millennials tend to believe that they are better than everyone else. Another place where these kids are spoiled is in the work force. The 'Trophy Kids' have the idea of getting the best of jobs whenever they want them.
