There is the common view of Arabs as a primitive people possessing an irrational way of thinking that renders them incapable of distinguishing reality from fantasy. In other words they do not posses logical thought processes, but rather a delusional one that promotes their violent and erratic behavior Arabs, in the eyes of many Israeli Jews, are also seen both as cowards and as being prone to extreme violence.
The Arab side of the conflict, particularly those on the West Bank and in Gaza, still reject the concept of any legitimate Jewish claim to Jerusalem and Israel. They feel that these lands have belonged to Arabs for generations, but this intense hatred for the other is deeply imbedded in racial misconception of the Jews. They depict the Jews as both violent and evil but also as weak and craven, only able win any of their victories through the use of superior technology. Arabs in Palestine use the terms "Israeli" and "Jew" synonymously, refusing to associate with the nation. That being said although there is anti-Semitism in the Arab world, it is not Anti-Semitism in the traditional Western European fashion. Arab anti-Semitism is aimed primarily at Israeli or Zionist Jews, or the actual people responsible for their current situation. Jewish-American Tourists would not typically experience this hatred held by Arabs towards Israeli Jews. Furthermore there is a widespread ignorance among Arabs of Jewish persecution and particularly the Holocaust. They view them and their increased immigration to Palestine as an invasion and outright theft of long-time Arab lands. They view them as having an inflated sense of superiority and entitlement to Arab lands. This ignorance as well as these stereotypes among the Arabs accounts for a greater amount of misunderstanding and strife between the two factions. When interviewed many of the younger generations of Arabs such as those on the West Bank have grown up completely surrounded by this kind of violence, making it part of normal life.
