Zoo Animals - Caged in Cruelty

We show that our entertainment comes before the health and safety of the animals in the zoo. Animals in the wild can reproduce and have multiple cubs and infants. Animals in the zoo are monitored and usually sectioned off by gender. Sometimes, however, zoos will breed animals in their zoos to add on to their numbers and provide a new attraction. This all goes into the entertainment field. New baby animals always draw big crowds into the zoo. These exotic animals should not be locked up in small cages and gated off in certain areas. Their natural habitat is wide and has a rage of area that they are able to roam and explore. The animals can not behave in their natural way because they are deprived of their natural environments. Generally the enclosures animals are kept in are too small for them to get the proper amount of exercise. Living in captivity often times can lead the animals to stress, boredom, and the development of repetitive behaviors like pacing or rocking back and forth. More often than not when someone is at the zoo the animals are barely moving or look completely bored. The main focus of a zoo is not to educate and inform people about the animals but to entertain children and adult. .
Besides the fact that zoos are for entertainment purposes only, zoos cause a health risk to the animals. Animals at the zoo are at a higher risk for getting diseases because disease can be spread through species that have never lived together before. Exotic animals in the wild that live in packs generally tend to stay away from other animal packs. In the zoo, these animals neighbor other species thus causing diseases to spread from animal to animal. In a zoo in India, 13 white tigers died from what was thought to be the stress of being in a zoo. There are only 61 known white tigers to be alive today. Along with the tigers killed in the Nandankana Zoological Park, a crocodile was found decapitated.
