Even if there is only one parent that has to leave the family, the child, or the children, suffer a drastic change in their lives, a change that sometimes is hard for them to understand. How you can explain to a little kid that her/his mother or father will not be with them anymore? It is hard for them to understand issues that nobody in the world should have to live through.
Emotional and psychological effects during childhood essentially make up who we are, and is a strong indicator of what we will become in life. Children are the future of the country, and what kind of future will this country have if many of the upcoming youth grow up with psychological problems. According to Brian Allen, Erica Cisneros, and Alexandra Tellez in their article, "The Impact of Parental Deportation on Mental Health," "parental deportation causes increased emotional behavioral distress among children, including sleep problems, depression, anxiety and poorer grades" (387). What this means is that children that do not have their parents by their side will not be healthy children, and the effect mentioned above will cause more serious problems like addiction to alcohol, drugs and tobacco, or are more prone to low self-esteem. It is not a secret that parents are our support and guide; they are the persons that can help us in everything that is why a child that lives without one of them, or without both, cannot be happy and will not grow without consequences. These personal belongings are the kind of problems that bring more and more consequences because we are not only talking about laws and rights we are talking about feelings, and even more importantly, emotional and psychological disorders of the vulnerable individuals in the world that are the children, innocents that don't understand some situations that this world has.
Another consequence of the situation of these children is the economic hardship that they have to live.
