In the society of Divergent, people are divided into specific factions. These factions are Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite. Each faction has people with specific traits. People in Abnegation are selfless, people in Amity are lovable and peaceful, Candor people are truthful and honest, Dauntless members are adventurous and brave, and people in Erudite are the people that are full of knowledge and like learning. In this society when individuals reach the age of 16 they take a test to determine in which faction they better fit in or are meant to be in. .
I disagree that such a system is a beneficial way to structure a society. I believe this because everybody is different and everybody has many traits and characteristics that make people individuals. Individuals shouldn't be divided into factions for just having one trait or one characteristic in specific. This system of dividing individuals isn't made for a diverse society in which people of all different personalities grow and are cultivated. The factions are not divided wisely either because some of the factions don't represent an actual characteristic that some people should have and others shouldn't. For example, Amity is the faction for love and peace and even though not everybody has peace everybody should have love in their life in some way or the other.
I don't think the factions are working "toward a better society and a better world." The factions are made for only people that have one of the traits according to the factions, but what if a person didn't have any of the traits and had a different one that wasn't compatible with any of the factions? The society is not organized for cases like these, that may actually happen. Divergent people, who are persons that have more than one trait, will have many problems trying to decide for a faction. This makes the plan look not well calculated and incomplete. The plan for the factions is not well planned and makes the factions not work towards a better world.
